Windsor police confirm arson probe in weekend fire

The investigation into a weekend fire has been turned over to Windsor police.

Firefighters were called around 5:30 a.m. Saturday to a commercial-residential property at Wyandotte Street East near Glengarry Avenue. It took crews about an hour to extinguish the blaze with hot spots flaring up for some time after.

Investigators have confirmed that the fire had several points of origin, and an arson investigation is underway.

The damage estimate for the restaurant portion of the building is around $550,000, and an additional $50,000 for the residential part. No one was injured in the fire but three residential tenants were displaced.
