Lakeshore to get $2.9M from senior governments

Just like Tecumseh, Essex, and Leamington, Lakeshore is getting provincial cash to improve the way it delivers services to residents, but it is getting much more.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing announced Wednesday it would give 405 municipalities funding to become more efficient and cut costs down the road. Tecumseh, Essex, Leamington, and Lakeshore will each receive $620,201.

The Town of Lakeshore says it will also get $564,100 from the province. That is its annual allocation from the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund which helps rural and northern municipalities.

In addition to those announcements, the town said its allocation of the federal gas tax revenues would double. The one-time funding envelope is worth $1.8 million.

For the past eight years, Lakeshore has been the fastest growing municipality in Essex County.
