Woman injured in Windsor home invasion

A Windsor woman was taken to hospital following a home invasion early Tuesday morning.

Police were called around 1:30 a.m. to a home on Riberdy Road off the E.C. Row Expressway. Officers were then told that three masked men forced their way into the house. One of them assaulted the woman with a blunt object. She was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects were able to take a safe from the house, fleeing in a dark-coloured sedan, according to Constable Talya Natyshak. The vehicle was last seen driving southbound on Riberdy Road.

All three suspects are described as male. The first suspect was 5'10" tall with a thin build and black facial hair, wearing a burgundy hoodie. The second suspect was wearing a white-grey hooded sweater. A description of the third male was not provided.

The suspect vehicle is a dark four-door, older model sedan, possibly black. It has a long front end.

The WPS Forensic Identification Unit was on scene for several hours Tuesday, and the Major Crimes Unit has begun its investigation into this incident.

Anyone with information is urged to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700 ext. 4830, or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
