Windsor man arrested after police officer assaulted

A Windsor man has been charged after a police officer in Guelph was assaulted over the weekend.

Guelph police said they were contacted by the Ontario Provincial Police on Saturday and asked to check on the well-being of a man.

Officers found the man in a vehicle on Wellington Street West and believed he was intoxicated when they spoke to him.

The suspect was asked to leave the vehicle and did but became aggressive with police.

James Marchildon, 49, of Windsor was arrested and charged with assaulting police and operation of a vehicle while intoxicated.
