No Vaping signs set to make their debut

In addition to "No Smoking" signs, you may soon see "No Vaping" signs up at Windsor-Essex businesses.

The updated version of the Smoke-free Ontario Act combined the previous no smoking law with the Electronic Cigarettes Act, and added some new regulations. It prohibits smoking tobacco or cannabis, and vaping at all indoor and outdoor public places -- anywhere smoking tobacco was previously prohibited.

Businesses will have to post signs in all high visibility areas like entrances, exits and washrooms. Business owners can get the signs for free by ordering them online from the health unit. They can also call the tobacco enforcement officer at 519-258-2146 ext. 3100.

The health unit will also work with employers on the new regulations to make sure their workplaces are compliant with the new law.
