The OPP's eye in the sky spotted dozens of driving infractions during a recent two-day traffic blitz in Essex County and Chatham-Kent.
Provincial police said they teamed up with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) to conduct aerial traffic enforcement on Highway 3 and Highway 401 on January 16 and 17.
During that time, OPP laid more than 59 charges with the help of their police helicopter.
"The OPP has an Eye in the Sky and we will continue to leverage all assets available to us which include our Aviation Services Division to ensure compliance with all rules of the road," said Essex County OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Glen Miller. "Though you may not see us, we can see you and we will continue to provide a high level of enforcement to ensure our roadways remain safe for everyone."
The charges were laid against motorists in both passenger vehicles and commercial motor vehicles and included a wide range of offences including speeding, following too closely, and prohibited use of the left lane.
