With Environment Canada calling for up to 15 centimetres of snow by Sunday morning, the City of Windsor reminding residents and business owners to clear their sidewalks.
The city says it is up to property owners to make sure the sidewalk in front of their home or business is cleared of snow. Commercial property owners have four hours to make sure the sidewalk is clean, and residents have 12 hours.
You might also want to park somewhere other than the street so snow plows can clear roadways.
Drivers are asked to be patient if they are behind a snow plow, and to give the plow lots of room. Snow plows do not usually travel faster than 40 km/h and following too close can reduce the driver's visibility, as well as raise the risk your vehicle will be hit by snow, ice, or rocks picked up by the plow.
Main roads in the city will get top priority for plowing. The plows will be out once accumulation reaches 5 centimetres and it typically takes up to six hours to complete the average route. Once the main roads are clear, the plows will start on residential streets.
