Ford Canada names new president and CEO

A Canadian is now the head of the Ford Motor Company's Canadian subsidiary.

The automaker announced Thursday afternoon that Dean Stoneley has been named the new president and CEO of Ford Canada, effective February 1. Stoneley will succeed Mark Buzzell, who is moving to become Ford's North American head of fleet, lease and remarketing operations.

“Mark’s leadership has been fundamental to the continued success of Ford in Canada,” said Ford North America President Kumar Galhotra in a media release. “I look forward to working together in his new leadership role with our fleet, lease and remarketing operations. Dean brings with him a wealth of global experience as he returns to lead Ford of Canada through a transformative time in our industry.”

Stoneley has been with Ford since 1992 and has worked in various capacities in their operations in Canada, the U.S., South Africa, South Korea and Japan. Most recently, he has served as vice-president and director of marketing for Changan Ford national dealer sales distribution joint venture in China.

“As a Canadian who started my career at Ford of Canada, I’m excited to come home to lead this successful team,” said Stoneley. “Together with our strong network of dealers, we’ll continue to focus on what the Canadian consumer values, which are great products and industry-leading customer experiences.”

Stoneley will oversee Ford's entire Canadian operation, which includes the Windsor Engine Plant and the Essex Engine Plant. He will lead operations at their national headquarters in Oakville, Ontario, three regional headquarters and the Oakville Assembly Plant.

Ford currently employs 8,000 Canadians, with another 18,000 working at Ford and Lincoln dealerships across Canada.
