Families in need get some help this Christmas

ReMax Realty in east Windsor has once again given away some turkeys for those in need this holiday season.

The fourth annual turkey giveaway and about a thousand Christmas meals were handed out on Thursday afternoon in the office parking lot at Tecumseh Road and Roseville Gardens.

Organizer Angie Goulet said the Christmas baskets come from various donors and volunteers.

"This is a bunch of people giving back to the community that have all come together to be part of the community," said Goulet.

Santa was on hand for the event and there was coffee, hot chocolate, Timbits and carolers singing to bring a festive spirit to the giveaway.

Goulet said the event has grown from 500 baskets to 1,000 over the last two years.

"A few people said let's give away turkeys and then a few other people said 'we want in and we want in and we want in' and then all of a sudden it went from turkeys to a whole feast for a family," she added.

Goulet said her family feels like a million bucks when they give back to the community.

"You feel like the most blessed person in the world to be able to do something for somebody else. It's an incredible feeling. It's the best day of the year for our entire family," Goulet said.
