Unionized workers at the Windsor Assembly plant will be getting a longer holiday break than expected.
Unifor Local 444 is reporting that the plant will be on layoff for the first two weeks of January. The reason is unclear but the last layoff in late October was to due to high inventories.
FCA just informed the Union that the Windsor Assembly Plant will be on lay-off Jan 2/3/4 and week of Jan 7. Coming back up January 14, 2019

Unifor 444 President Dave Cassidy said at the time that anytime there’s a layoff, it affects the workers and their families because junior plant employees and feeder plant workers won’t get top-up pay. Cassidy added these types of layoffs happen way too often and workers tend to spend less at local shops because their pay is limited.
Production will resume January 14.
