Two Windsor area agencies hope a visit to India this past week boosts the local and Canadian economies.
Canada and India now have a framework to collaborate after the Canadian Association of Mold Makers (CAMM) and the Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation (WEEDC) signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) in India and the Tools and Gauge Manufacturer’s Association of India (TAGMA).
WEEDC and CAMM said the MOUs are the first of their kind between Canada and India to explore opportunities in India and around the world.
"We are delighted to partner with EEPC and TAGMA. We expect this relationship will be of mutual benefit to Windsor-Essex and Indian companies," Rakesh Naidu, Chief Operating Officer, Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation said. "We have identified specific areas of interest and will work collaboratively to take this forward.
"The signing of the MOU agreements between TAGMA, EEPC and CAMM is the first step to bringing two already successful industrial economies together to build partnerships focused on harnessing the strengths of our two industries to create a mould making super power on a global scale," Jonathon Azzopardi, President, Canadian Association of Mold Makers said.
“The MOUs signed with EEPC India and TAGMA mark the first steps in a collaboration between Canada and India in technologies to be used in industry of the future," said Consul General for Canada in Mumbai, Ms. Annie Dubé. "Canada is well-placed internationally in terms of R&D in new emerging technologies."
