Windsor firefighters kept busy Sunday

Windsor Fire and Rescue handled two separate incidents in the city Sunday afternoon.

Both took place around the noon hour. First, firefighters were called to a home on Rivard Ave. near Haig Ave. in the city's Fontainebleu neighbourhood. Windsor fire officials say it was an involved house fire but did not immediately say how much of the home was affected.

That fire was brought under control and crews were still checking hot spots and ventilating the home of smoke. There is no cause or damage estimate available.

The other incident took place at Central Park Athletics on Central Ave. and Grand Marais Ave. Firefighters were called there on a report of an ammonia leak. The complex was evacuated as a precaution to ensure people were not affected by the chemical. It was not readily disclosed where the leak was discovered or what caused it.

There were no reports of injuries in either incident.

More information will be provided on these incidents when it becomes available.
