Impaired driving charge laid in Highway 3 crash

A 25-year-old man has been charged following a collision earlier this month.

The Ontario Provincial Police said 25-year-old Peter Zacharias, of Chatham, is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug in connection with the November 4 incident.

Constable Jim Root said the crash took place on Highway 3 near the E.C. Row Expressway in Windsor. According to police, the suspect's vehicle struck another from behind. The two occupants of the struck vehicle suffered minor injuries and were treated in hospital. Both vehicles were severely damaged in the collision.

The suspect was not physically hurt, but police allege he showed signs of impairment at the scene. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The charge has not been proven in court.
