Cottam toddler desperately needs bone marrow donor

The Katelyn Bedard Bone Marrow Association is still looking for "cheeky super heroes" to help a Cottam toddler.

Nolan Trepanier still needs a stem cell transplant after being diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML), a very serious type of aggressive blood cancer that affects infants and young children. The association said the cancer is extremely rare and less than one in a million get it.

There is another "Get Swabbed" event to find a bone marrow match for Nolan on Thursday. It is a quick swab of your cheeks to register at the St Clair Centre for the Arts Main Lobby at 201 Riverside Dr. W. from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The age requirement to register as a stem cell/bone marrow donor is 17-35.

Association officials said the only thing that can save Nolan's life is the generosity of a stranger.

An event in Kingsville last month had 279 people show up to help but the search is still on.

Registering online is also easy. Go to www.blood.ca.
