A rally will be held in Windsor to protest the elimination of the scheduled minimum wage hike in Ontario.
Protesters are demanding that Bill 47 be withdrawn because it is unfair to workers. That bill halted a minimum wage hike set for next year and eliminated some other provisions.
The rally will be on Friday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Windsor Chamber of Commerce at 2575 Ouellette Place.
Labour Minister Laurie Scott announced in late September that the minimum wage will remain $14 an hour and will not increase to $15 an hour in January, something that was planned by the previous Liberal government.
The Ontario Federation of Labour has stated that the move to freeze the minimum wage will have a negative effect on 1.7 million workers.
The food service industry is among those relieved that the minimum wage will stay the same.
The rally is being organized to stand up for employment standards and workers across Ontario.
