Ontario Provincial Police in Essex County nabbed three drivers on suspected impaired driving this weekend.
Constable Jim Root said the first two incidents took place on Friday night. Officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Jasperson Lane in Kingsville at around 6 p.m. The vehicle had hit and damaged a utility pole guide wire. Randall Moody, 31, of Kingsville, is accused of driving a motor vehicle while impaired and driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in the blood.
The second incident happened around 9 p.m. when officers from the Traffic Management Unit stopped a vehicle on Highway 3 in Tecumseh for speeding. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested. Root said the man was also allegedly in possession of cocaine. David Lambier, 31, of Lakeshore, is charged with driving a motor vehicle while impaired, driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in the blood and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
The third occurrence was early Sunday morning. Police responded around 3:30 a.m. to a call about a driver asleep at the wheel at a traffic light on County Rd. 20 W. in Kingsville. The driver showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody. John Omstead, 60, of Kingsville is charged with driving a motor vehicle while impaired and driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in the blood.
All of these charges have yet to be proven in court.
