Damage in Windsor house explosion set at $75K

Investigators have set a damage estimate in a weekend house explosion near downtown Windsor.

Windsor Fire and Rescue says the damage to a multi-unit home on Church Street off of Wyandotte Street West is estimated at $75,000. Investigators say the cause of the fire is being listed as accidental.

Fire crews and police were called to the home late Saturday afternoon. One person is still in hospital with undisclosed injuries. Fire officials confirmed that an explosion started the fire. Eight people in the home were displaced.

The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office was called in to investigate.
