Spitfires bitten by IceDogs 4-3

The Niagara IceDogs edged the Windsor Spitfires 4-3 in OHL action on Friday.

Chris Playfair kicked things off with a goal for Windsor early in the first period, but Niagara scored one of their own with just under two minutes left in the frame.

The IceDogs were quick to take a 2-1 lead with a goal 3:25 into the second, but Mathew MacDougall scored at 6:27 to tie things up heading into the third.

The IceDogs again took the advantage with a goal in the first half of the third period, but Windsor fought back to tie things at 3-3, thanks to a goal by Jordan Frasca with just over three minutes left in the game. However, Niagara scored one more goal with 1:36 left on the clock to retake the lead and ultimately the win.

Windsor goalie Kari  Piiroinen made 40 saves out of 44 shots on net.

The Spitfires will look to bounce back on Sunday when they head to Erie to face the Otters at 4 p.m.
