A second Ward 5 candidate withdraws

The field in the race for Windsor City Council Ward 5 continues to dwindle.

Joe Lucier, one of five candidates who filed to run against incumbent Ed Sleiman, announced Friday that he is suspending his campaign and encouraging his supporters to vote for campaign rival Joey Wright.

The news was confirmed Friday by a post on Lucier's official campaign Facebook page.

Lucier is the second Ward 5 candidate to withdraw from the election and endorse Wright. On Thursday afternoon, candidate Martin Utrosa formally announced his endorsement of Wright.

Utrosa's and Lucier's names will still appear on the ballot.

"(Wright's) platform is solid and he will make a good councilor for Ward 5," said Lucier in an email to BlackburnNewsWindsor.com.

In addition to Sleiman and Wright, the other candidates on the Ward 5 ballot are Adam Castle and Lillian Kruzsely.
