Local charities get energized by generous donations

Two local utility companies have chipped and putted their way to a significant donation for charity.

ENWIN Utilities and Essex Power Corporation held their 6th Annual Charity Golf Tournament September 25 and raised $66,700 for local charities.

“The EDA Western District has a long commitment to supporting our local southwestern Ontario communities," said Ray Tracey, president and CEO for Essex Power and chair of EDA Western District. "Over a period of six years, the EDA Western District Charity Golf Tournament has donated close to $290,000 to our local communities.

The donations will be presented to the Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) Renal Dialysis Program on Monday at 11 a.m. at 1149 Goyeau St. and the Ronald McDonald House, Windsor & Southwestern Ontario Chapter at 12:30 p.m. at WRH, third floor, 1995 Lens Ave.

“We are pleased to be able to donate this year’s proceeds to two very worthy organizations that provide health care and support to many," said Helga Reidel, president and CEO of ENWIN Utilities Ltd. "This is the second time that ENWIN has collaborated with Essex Power and the EDA to co-host this tournament. With today’s contributions, this partnership has now donated more than $105,000 to local charities."
