Spitfires doubled up by Petes 4-2

Nick Isaacson scored two goals in the third period to seal a 4-2 win by the Petes over the Windsor Spitfires in Peterborough Saturday night.

It's the third loss in a row for the Spitfires, who now have six points in the OHL West Division and sit in fourth place.

Both teams exchanged goals in the first period. Cole Purboo put Windsor up first with his first goal of the year. Erik Cermak scored for the first time this year about halfway through the period to tie the game.

Peterborough took the lead halfway through the second period on a power play goal from Christopher Paquette, but Purboo struck again just a few seconds later with his second goal of the night. The score was knotted at two apiece after 40 minutes of play.

The third period was all Peterborough. Isaacson scored his first goal at 7:12, then the second with five seconds left in regulation.

Kari Piiroinen stopped 23 shots for the Spits. Hunter Jones had 34 saves for the Petes.

The Spitfires conclude their annual eastern Ontario swing Sunday afternoon when they visit the Kingston Frontenacs.
