Need help voting? Here's what you need to know

Voters in most municipalities in Essex County will vote using either their phone, smartphone, computer, or by mailing their ballot.

For some, that can be a problem if they do not have access to a computer or smartphone. So, those municipalities are offering help by either extending hours at town hall, or by setting up locations throughout their municipalities where voters can get assistance.

Remember, all voters will require two pieces of government-issued photo identification to vote.

Only Essex and Windsor will use paper ballots.

Windsor has just one advanced polling day left, and that is Saturday, October 13 at the WFCU Centre. The poll is located in the Collavino Hall and is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Essex has an advanced poll Saturday as well at the Harrow and Colchester South Community Centre from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Kingsville is using mail-in ballots and if you have not received your voter kit, or you need to change the information in it, you can email the clerk at elections@kingsville.ca or call 519-733-2305.

Leamington is using both internet and telephone voting. Voter Help Centres will be held at the Leamington Municipal Building.

The hours are:

* October 15 and 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. * October 17 and 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. * October 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. * October 20 and 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., * Election Day, October 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

At the Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Complex, the Voter Help Centre is on October 15 to 19 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

LaSalle residents will also cast their ballots over the phone and internet. That allows voters to make their pick any time of day until the polls close at 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Those who need help accessing the internet or have questions can go to the LaSalle Civic Centre where both computers and telephones will be available.

The LaSalle Voter Help Centre is open:

* Saturday, October 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. * Monday to Friday next week from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. * Saturday, October 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. * Election Day, Monday, October 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Eligible voters should have received a letter in the mail including their PIN number to log into the voting system. If you have not received it, call 1-833-946-3061, email election@lasalle.ca, or visit the LaSalle Civic Centre.

The Town of Lakeshore is also assisting voters at the front desk of the main entrance at Town Hall where residents can register to vote and get a voting kit. That service will be available on Tuesday, October 16, Thursday, October 18 and Election Day from opening until 8 p.m.

Voter registration will also be open between 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the building services level of Town Hall.

In addition to the front desk and at mail drop off boxes at Lakeshore Town Hall, ballots can be dropped off at the following locations:

* St. Andrew's Church at 235 Amy Croft Dr. in the parking lot * Atlas Tube Centre at 447 Renaud Ln. in the back parking lot. * Former Belle River Arena at 304 Rourke Ln in the parking lot * Lakeshore Town Hall at 419 Notre Dame, Lavoie St. behind Town Hall * Libro Community Centre at 1925 Middle Rd. parking lot * Shanahan Park beside Fire Station #2 at 1465 Lakeshore Rd. 203 parking lot * Comber Community Centre at 7100 Community Centre St. parking lot * Stoney Point Park at 880 Comber Sideroad parking lot.

Voting in Tecumseh started Friday by internet and telephone. Electors in that town should have received a Voter Information Letter that contained a PIN for the voting system and instructions.

Those who need help can attend a Voter Information Centre.

The centre at Tecumseh Town Hall is open weekdays until October 19 and on Saturday, October 13 and 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The centre is also accessible from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.

It is also open at the Maidstone Recreation Centre on Saturday, October 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
