Man seriously hurt in Windsor industrial accident

A Windsor deli employee is in hospital following an incident Saturday afternoon.

Windsor police said it happened at a business on Tecumseh Rd. E. and Buckingham Drive. Police, and witnesses posting on social media, confirmed theĀ businessĀ as Deda’s Meat and Deli.

Officers arrived at the deli shortly after 3 p.m. on a report of an industrial accident. According to police, the employee somehow got his arm caught in a meat grinder.

First responders were able to remove the man from the equipment and rush him to hospital, where he was treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour is reportedly investigating the accident, police said. The ministry did not immediately respond to a request from BlackburnNewsWindsor.com seeking comment.

A handwritten sign on the door Sunday said the business will be closed until further notice.

The injured employee has not been identified.
