Just a week after announcing the Gordie Howe International Bridge, officials are set to break ground Friday morning on the long-awaited project.
A ceremony is planned at the site of what will be the Canadian port of entry off Prospect Avenue in West Windsor.
A similar ceremony was held on the Detroit side of the bridge back in July.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to give a speech at 9 a.m., before taking questions from the media.
Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is also expected to attend.
Following the ceremony, there will be a public celebration at noon at Senator David A. Croll park downtown near Windsor City Hall.
Last week, the Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority announced the project would cost $5.7 billion and that the bridge would open to traffic in 2024.
