What's Open And Closed in Windsor-Essex Monday?

It's the midsummer long weekend in Windsor-Essex, and that means some area businesses will be either closed or on abbreviated hours on Monday, the Civic Holiday.

The Civic Holiday is a statutory holiday in Ontario. Eight of Canada's provinces and two territories are observing August 6 as a holiday.

All federal, provincial and municipal offices will be closed Monday. ServiceOntario offices will be closed but certain transactions can still be completed online.

There will be no Canada Post delivery.

All branches of the Windsor Public Library and the Essex County Library will be closed.

The Beer Store will be open at select locations from 11am to 6pm Monday, and select LCBO outlets will be open noon to 6pm. Call your favourite location directly to see if they are open.

Windsor Crossing outlet mall is open 10am to 6pm Monday, Devonshire Mall will be open from 11am to 6pm, and Tecumseh Mall from noon to 5pm.

The 311 call centre will be closed Monday, but the 211 call centre will be open 24 hours as usual.

Residential garbage, yard waste and recyclable collection in Windsor normally done on Monday will be delayed a day. Commercial garbage collection will take place as usual. The public drop-off centre at Central and EC Row in Windsor will be closed Monday.

In the city of Windsor, all community centres and arenas will be closed with the exception of pre-arranged rentals. All customer care centres are also closed. All public outdoor pools will be open from 1:30 to 4:30pm, and Sandpoint Beach is open from 1pm to 7pm, weather and water quality permitting.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park will be open regular summer hours from 10am to 8pm. The Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for adult fit lanes and open adult swim only, and the fitness centre will be open 6am to 9 pm.

There will be no parking enforcement in Windsor on Monday and all traffic fine payment offices will be closed. Metered parking in Windsor is free on holidays.

The Chimczuk Museum and Francois Baby House in Windsor will be closed on Monday, their usual day off.

Transit Windsor buses will run on a Sunday and holiday schedule, but the tunnel bus to Detroit will operate on a normal weekday schedule.

In Tecumseh, there will be no transit bus running, though yard waste will be collected as usual. Tecumseh Arena will be open for previously-scheduled rentals only. The Leisure Pool in Lacasse Park will be open for regular lessons and programs, though there will be no day camp activities Monday.

The Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore will be closed Monday.

In LaSalle, the Vollmer Complex is closed Monday, though the outdoor pool and splash pad will be open for usual programs.

The Essex Recreational Complex will be open normal hours on the Civic Holiday.

In Leamington, there will be no programs Monday at the Kinsmen Recreational Centre.
