Violent Windsor Man Gets Time Behind Bars

A 62-year-old Windsor man found guilty of assault with a weapon and aggravated assault has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Kenneth Sparks stabbed a woman multiple times at an apartment building on Ottawa St. near Marentette Ave. in March of 2015.

Police found a woman inside the building with serious stab wounds and a second female by the entrance with minor injuries.

Both females survived.

Sparks was arrested at the scene without incident and was originally charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon and possession of crack cocaine.

All three individuals know each other.

The knife was recovered at the scene.

Defence lawyer Laura Joy says Sparks is eligible for early parole and will likely get out after 18 months if he behaves.

She says four years behind bars is about the norm for a case like this.

Sparks has a lengthy criminal record that involves violence and has spent time in a penitentiary before.
