A Windsor contracting company has been fined $75,000 after a worker was seriously injured.
The Ministry of Labour says October 28, 2016, the worker was injured while at Service Mold + Aerospace Inc.'s plant located at 2711 St. Etienne Blvd. A beam that was being lifted into the air became unbalanced and slid, striking the worker who suffered critical injuries.
The worker's employer, CMF Group Inc., was installing new milling machines at the time of the accident.
The crane that was being used at the time was equipped with anti-collision sensors for safety, however, they had been covered up did not activate.
As a result, CMF Group Inc. was fined $75,000 in a Windsor court on Wednesday. The court also imposed a 25% victim fine surcharge as required by the Provincial Offences Act.
