Suspect Sought In Windsor Pizzeria Robbery (VIDEO)

The public is being asked to help identify a suspect in a downtown Windsor robbery.

The owners of Mario's On Pelissier, a popular pizzeria on Pelissier St. near University Ave. W, posted surveillance video of the robbery on their Facebook page.

The video, with a time stamp of 12:30am Sunday, shows the suspect trying to force open a cash register in the business. The video shows the suspect unsuccessfully trying to jimmy the lock on the drawer before throwing the machine on the floor, smashing it.

The suspect was seen taking an unknown quantity of cash from the register before fleeing.

The restaurant says on its Facebook page that the suspect came in through the back door of the business.

The robbery apparently occurred minutes after staff had closed up the business and left for the night. The pizzeria's website lists 11pm as its closing time on Saturdays.

The suspect appears to be a white male with short dark hair, a moustache and a slim build. The video shows he was wearing light-coloured shorts, a t-shirt with a "block M" logo on it, and running shoes.

Anyone with information on this incident or who can identify the suspect is urged to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-8477 (TIPS).
