Delays At Ambassador Bridge Cause Massive Backups

Getting to work required extra time and a lot of patience for commuters who use Huron Church Rd., especially if they were travelling northbound.

An hour-long delay for trucks headed to the U.S. at the Ambassador Bridge meant long backups, at one point all the way out to Hwy. 401.

The delays persisted during the entire morning commute in Windsor.  There were no delays for passenger vehicles, and no wait coming into Canada.

Officials with U.S. Customs and Border Protection blame "system issues" and say they are doing everything they can to minimize the impacts on local traffic. That includes coordinating with the Ambassador Bridge Authority and other crossing operators.

There was a ripple effect at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel where traffic as of 9am was delayed ten minutes for all U.S. bound traffic.
