ENWIN Warns Windsor Residents Of Possible Water Discolouration

If you notice your water turning brown over the next few months, it is just ENWIN's routine hydrant flushing.

Between May 14 and October 5, ENWIN will be conducting its annual Water System Flushing program across Windsor. Daily flushing will be between 8am and 3:30pm to test the water pressure in city hydrants.

Customers may notice mild discolouration and sedimentation in their water while the program takes place. ENWIN wants to reassure customers that this is not harmful. The water will clear up after running the cold water tap for several minutes.

When the system testing reaches your neighbourhood, ENWIN recommends filling some containers with water beforehand, to avoid doing laundry, and to avoid running hot water taps to keep discoloured water and sediment out of your water heater.

Schedules for when the system testing will be in your neighbourhood will be advertised every Saturday in the Windsor Star, and daily information will be available on their twitter feed, @enwinutilities.

You can also visit their website www.enwin.com and click on the WUC banner to view their Hydrant System Flushing Map.
