Further Arrests Made In Drug And Gun Investigation

Police have arrested two outstanding suspects in connection with a Windsor gun and drug investigation that involves the deadly combination drug called "Purple Heroin".

Windsor police say on April 17, one of the suspects, a 35-year-old Windsor man, attended Windsor police headquarters and was arrested on charges of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.

Another suspect, a 23-year-old Kitchener man, who was wanted on a charge of possessing a firearm without a licence, was arrested on Wednesday by Waterloo Regional Police on Wednesday. He has since been transported back to Windsor to answer the charge, along with several other firearm and drug trafficking-related charges.

The charges stem from a raid by Windsor police on a Howard Ave. motel back on April 14. Officers had been called to the location after receiving a report of a firearm that had been found in one of the rooms.

A third suspect, a 25-year-old man from Toronto, was arrested when he returned to the room. He has since been charged for numerous firearm and drug trafficking-related offences.

Two other suspects, who police believe are now in custody, fled in a vehicle with officers in pursuit, but the chase was stopped for safety reasons.

Police seized over 100 g of a drug known as “Purple Heroin” which is a mixture of heroin and fentanyl. Around 30 g of powdered fentanyl and 4 g of crack cocaine were also seized.

Another unknown substance was also seized from the hotel room as well as the handgun found by the employees. The total value of the drugs seized is estimated to be $54,240.
