Windsor Pride Finds Forever Home

A year after it was forced to move out of its long-time home at the Pelissier St. parking garage, Windsor Pride has found a permanent location.

For the past year, the Windsor Pride Community, Education & Resource Centre has been located in space donated by Windsor Regional Hospital at its Ouellette Campus.

"Our new space will allow us to be a community hub again," says Executive Director Crystal Fach. "We need a safe space in our community that is just for us and our allies. We have come a long way in LGBTQ human rights and inclusion, but oppression is still out there. We still have LGBTQ folks who are not being hired, housed and provided service with dignity and respect."

The new 1,500 sq ft space is at 1-810 Ouellette Ave. A grand opening is planned for June 13.

"I believe in a community that brings positive energy, and that will help educate people," says property manager Shannon Laprise.

The new location is expected to give the organization room to grow its programming, public education, volunteer base, and see the return of its community members.
