Liberals Choose Candidate For CK-Leamington

The Ontario Liberals have announced their candidate to run in the upcoming provincial election for the Chatham-Kent-Leamington riding.

Community advocate Margaret Schleier Stahl was announced as the Liberal's pick after being acclaimed to the position on Wednesday during a nomination meeting at the Retro Suites in Chatham.

"I'm honoured to join a team under the leadership of Premier Kathleen Wynne that is fighting for fairness and to ensure we continue to invest in care and opportunity for everyone," says Schleier Stahl in a news release. "I’ve been advocating for supports for residents in communities throughout the Windsor, Leamington, and Chatham-Kent areas for over 26 years. I will continue to advocate on your behalf for the investments that our residents need including free tuition for post-secondary students, a $15/hr minimum wage and free prescriptions for children and youth and soon for seniors.”

Schleier Stahl is currently a life skills specialist and facilitates workshops for participants on Ontario Works Assistance, and is a member of the Leamington Mennonite Home Gala Committee. She has also held a number of positions within CK such as a secretary to the Chatham Kent Service Coordinators Networking Group, a staff wellness committee member, and a community assessment team member.

Margaret is a mother of a daughter and son and enjoys spending time with her partner Mark and his daughter.

Progressive Conservative Rick Nicholls is the incumbent in that riding, Jordan McGrail is running for the New Democrats, and Mark Vercouteren will represent the Green Party.

The 2018 provincial election will take place on June 7.
