A Very Frank Talk About Drugs For Teens

With the current opioid crisis and the upcoming legalization of recreational marijuana, first responders in Windsor-Essex will be giving high school students a first-hand account of the impact of substance abuse.

This Thursday, representatives from the Ontario Provincial Police, the trauma department at Windsor Regional Hospital, Emergency Medical Services, Brentwood, and the Canadian Mental Health Association will reveal to students what they deal with on a daily basis.

Those who have also suffered addiction will talk about their struggles and journey to recovery.

Dr Rajasekar Basker, the head of psychiatry at Windsor Regional Hospital and Dr Marven Oxley from the regional coroner's office will hold an interactive discussion with students.

The presentations start at 8:15am and will wrap up around 2:15pm at Tecumseh Vista Academy.
