Over 800 Students Face Suspension Next WeekMarch 13, 2018 7:06am
Around 800 students face suspension on Tuesday if they don’t get their immunization records up to date with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.
Students in Grade 11 and 12 in need of their 14-16-year-old booster shots or a meningitis vaccine will be suspended next week.
“We’re hoping that with March Break students will be able to either get in to see us or see their health care provider to take care of it so we’re hoping to see that number go down substantially,” says Judy Allen with the health unit.
Allen says the health unit has nurses on staff who are taking appointments throughout the week to give vaccines.
Once students receive the vaccines they are responsible for notifying the health unit. This can be done through a new online service, by bringing records to the health unit or having your family physician faxing the records.
Allen says once the suspension notices are handed out students will have to physically bring their records to the health unit or have their health care provider call the health unit.
