Essex-Windsor EMS is hiring 23 new paramedics.
Fifteen of them are full-time.
Essex-Windsor EMS Chief Bruce Krauter says 49 part-time paramedics have already been hired and all of the new recruits should be on the job by May.
Krauter says the new hires will provide a better emergency response in the region, and will increase staffing at the Dougall, Jefferson and Ruscom ambulance stations.
He says the new paramedics will also eliminate patient off-load delays for county ambulances at city hospitals.
