New Hospital App Maps Patient Journey

Windsor Regional Hospital has a new app to help patients and families know more about what to expect when they're having a procedure done.

The WRH My Care Journey App lets patients know what to expect based on the day their procedure is scheduled or completed.

"This is the journey that you can expect in our hospital, on this timeline. Yours may vary a bit but it's trying to answer all of the questions that you have before you've even thought to ask them," says Communications Manager Allison Johnson.

She says its aim is to give patients a more active role in their recovery.

"It doesn't take away the need to have conversations with the patients but it will help the patients ask better questions, it will help them maybe not have to," says Johnson.

The app is available for free download from Apple or Android. There are currently eight procedures or conditions in the app but Johnson says they plan to continually add to the database.

The app is not personalized to a patients specific file but offers information about what a patient with a certain condition can expect.

The information is also available on the hospital's website in four different languages French, Italian, Arabic, and Spanish.
