Two Arrested In Human Trafficking Investigation

Two people have been arrested and Windsor police are looking for two other suspects in connection with a human trafficking investigation.

The Windsor Police Service says on Thursday, a woman reported to police that she has been forced into prostitution and transporting illegal firearms and narcotics The woman also reported being assaulted, threatened, and forcibly confined on more than one occasion.  This began after she began a relationship with a man back in September of 2017, police said.

On Friday, police executed search warrants at three Windsor residences where the offences were believed to have taken place.  During the searches, officers seized two replica firearms.

As a result of an investigation, two adults have been arrested and charged with human trafficking, sexual assault, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and assault.

Two other adults have also been identified and warrants have been issued for their arrests.  The two are known to frequent the Windsor area and the Greater Toronto Area.

The names of those accused have not been released to protect the identity of the victim.
