Peche Island is going to be more accessible to residents with some funding from Windsor's enhanced capital budget.
The budget sets aside $1-million for a small passenger boat and to fix up some of the natural trails.
Jan Wilson with the city says they want more people to take advantage of the city owned island.
"Some of the upgrades include some trail stabilization work, some repairs to the dock, to replace the boardwalk. We're also required to do bridge inspections across all of our facilities and there are some bridges on this island," says Wilson.
City staff say they don't want to overrun the island so the boat will only hold a small number of people at one time.
It will only run in the summer months but a full schedule has not been finalized yet.
