Windsor

What's Open and Closed for Christmas in Windsor-Essex?

The Christmas holiday means there are plenty of closures and altered hours at Windsor-Essex businesses and municipalities.

As with any town hall or business, make sure to call ahead or visit their websites to confirm hours and avoid disappointment.

The Beer Store and LCBO are open until 6pm Sunday, Christmas Eve, but will be closed Monday and Tuesday. Regular business hours resume on Wednesday.

Tecumseh Mall closes at 4pm Sunday while Devonshire Mall closes at 5pm. Hours for Boxing Day Tuesday are 7am to 7pm at Devonshire Mall, and 8am to 5pm at Tecumseh Mall.

All federal, provincial and municipal offices will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. There will be no Canada Post delivery on both days.

Windsor

There will be no residential garbage collection on Monday or Tuesday. Check your collection schedule for alternate pickup days. Commercial pickup will proceed as usual. The public drop-off and household chemical waste depot off Central Ave near E.C. Row will be closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

The 311 Call Centre will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, then resume regular hours the rest of the week. The 211 Call Centre remains open 24 hours a day.

All Windsor indoor arenas close at 2pm Sunday and will reopen on Wednesday. The outdoor ice rinks at Lanspeary Park and Charles Clark Square will close at 3pm Christmas Eve and reopen Tuesday. However, Bright Lights Windsor in Jackson Park will be open every day from 5:30pm to 10pm.

All Windsor arenas and community centres will operate on adjusted hours throughout the winter holiday break.

There is no parking enforcement on Monday or Tuesday. Street parking will be free both days and the parking enforcement payment office will be closed.

The Windsor Public Library will close all branches on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. All Essex County library branches are closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Transit Windsor will run on special schedules on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park will be open till 4pm Sunday and be closed Monday. During the winter break, hours will be from 10am to 8pm most days.

Tecumseh

Tecumseh Town Hall will be closed throughout the week and reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

Tecumseh Arena will not hold public skating on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but be open for previously-scheduled rentals only.

Trash collection, normally on Thursdays, will be delayed to Friday, December 29. Recycling pickup will also be pushed back a day.

Tecumseh Transit will not operate on Christmas Day, but will run from 6am to 6pm the rest of the week.

LaSalle

The LaSalle Civic Centre will be closed through Boxing Day and reopen Wednesday. However, municipal offices are closed through Tuesday, January 2.

The Vollmer Complex will close at noon Christmas Eve and reopen on Wednesday.

LaSalle Transit Service will not run on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.

The Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Complex closes at noon on Christmas Eve and will remain closed until Boxing Day.

Essex

Essex town officers will be closed until Tuesday, January 2.

The town's recreational schedule will feature scheduled events for the family throughout winter break.

Lakeshore

Lakeshore Town Hall will be closed until Tuesday, January 2.

The Atlas Tube Centre will hold a free family skate on Christmas Eve from 11am to 12:30pm. The centre will be closed Christmas Day and have holiday hours the rest of the week.

Amherstburg

Garbage collection in the town of Amherstburg on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday will be delayed one day. Those with a Monday pickup will have trash collected on Saturday, December 30.
