Police Recover Stolen Gun While Investigating Fight

A call about a fight involving "numerous people" in Windsor has led police officers to a sawed-off shotgun reported stolen a few years ago.

Police officers were called out to the area of Aylmer Ave. and Assumption St. around 3am Saturday after someone involved in the fight threatened to shoot someone else.

Neighbours heard popping sounds but were not sure if it was gunshots or firecrackers. During the investigation, officers found out the sounds were from firecrackers.

Police found one suspect inside a home on Aylmer, a woman, and the gun in plain view. It turns out the woman had several outstanding warrants for her arrest.

The gun had been reported stolen in April 2012.

Now, a 26-year-old Windsor woman faces three charges including possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of stolen property.

Police are still investigating the incident and ask anyone with information to call them at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 (TIPS), or report their tip online at www.catchcrooks.com.
