Spits Outgun The Battalion 5-2

The Windsor Spitfires topped the North Bay Battalion 5-2 at the WFCU Centre on Thursday.

Thomas Stevenson kicked things off for Windsor with a goal six minutes into the first period, but the Battalion were able to tie things up with a goal of their own three minutes later.  Cole Purboo and Mathew MacDougall both scored for the Spitfires late in the period to give Windsor a 3-1 lead heading into the second.

Purboo scored his second of the night just over seven minutes into the second frame, and Windsor remained in the lead despite a goal from North Bay in the final minutes of the period.

The Spitfires capped off their win one more unanswered goal by MacDougall late in the third.

Windsor goalie Michael DiPietro made 31 saves out of 33 shots on net.

The Spitfires are back on the ice on Saturday when they take on the Oshawa Generals. The puck drops at 7:05pm at the WFCU Centre.
