Protocol Review Underway After Girl Left On Bus

A Windsor school bus company is reviewing its protocols after a 4-year-old girl was left alone on a bus for several hours.

A representative from Pearson Buslines says they believe the girl got on the bus and fell asleep, missing her drop-off at her daycare. The bus proceeded to the bus yard where the driver failed to follow protocol by checking the bus before he left.

Transportation Manager Ryan Pearson says they are now reviewing all of their protocols.

"We're working on making sure that we have all of our contact information available and some emergency contact numbers more readily available to our customers that we work with and the people that we transport so we can address these situations," says Pearson.

Pearson says they will also be in contact with schools to see if they have ideas on what can be done to make sure this does not happen again.

He says the incident has really hit home with many of the drivers and he is sure everyone will be much more diligent in the future.

"I hope that out of all of this terrible situation that it does bring forward some of our policies and the reasons why we have these policies in place and that people are just much more diligent in following procedures and doing things properly," says Pearson.

The bus driver who failed to do a bus check has been fired.
