Local Girl Victim Of Online Predator

The Windsor police are warning residents of the dangers online predators after a local young girl fell prey last year.

Windsor police were notified of the case in October 2016. They say a 12-year-old girl was talking to someone online she believed to be a female peer. The offender then persuaded the victim into "proving" she was female by sending photos of herself in various stages of undress. The offender then demanded more sexually explicit photos and threatened to publish the original photos if the victim did not comply.

The victim complied with the threats, but eventually told her family who notified police.

Police were able to track the communication to the state of Texas. United States Homeland Security Investigations were notified.

Earlier this month Windsor police were contacted that Homeland Security were able to identify and arrest a 25-year-old suspect in Dallas Texas. He remains in custody.

Windsor police are taking this opportunity to remind parents and care givers of the dangers of online predators. They encourage people to speak to their children about the risks.
