Sports Picks Make Two Windsor Men $68K Richer

Picking game winners have earned two Windsor men a lot of money.

Both stopped by the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto this week to collect $68,248 each, playing the OLG's Pools game.

To play, bettors choose their game of choice and a card number, then try to guess the winners of game matchups.

Timothy Perry says it's not the first time he's won betting on sports but it's definitely the biggest win he has ever had. He has a rather unconventional way of predicting game winners.

"It's not scientific and it's not based on team stats," says Perry. "I just pick numbers randomly out of a cup. And this time, I won big."

Perry already has plans on what he will do with his winnings, starting with a brand-new recliner where he can watch the games. He and his family had already planned a trip to Hawaii, but now he says they'll upgrade. He also plans to purchase a designer purse for his wife.

He picked up his winning ticket at P-Jay's Video and Variety on Walker Rd.

Meanwhile, 28-year-old Boris Lukic is crediting a co-worker for getting him started playing Pools, and it was beginner's luck.

"I watch a lot of football so I picked my favourite teams," says Lukic. "When the last team I picked won, my co-worker texted to congratulate me. She was so excited for me that I won on my first card."

The logistics broker plans to pay off his car and share the winnings with his family and his fiancé, hinting at even bigger plans for the money.

"I definitely see wedding plans in the future," says Lukic.

Lukic bought his ticket at a Shell gas bar on Tecumseh Rd. The OLG did not specify which location.
