Winter Fest Needs Volunteers

Volunteers of all ages are being welcomed to help spread holiday cheer in downtown Windsor.

The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association (DWBIA) is seeking young people, community groups and residents to act as volunteers for the upcoming Winter Fest.

The all-day event in the heart of the city features carolers, meet-and-greets with Santa Claus himself and more, with the highlight being the Santa Claus Parade down Ouellette Ave.

Positions of volunteers are varied, ranging from assisting with the parade units and floats, inflatable balloon costumes, marching bands, mimes and street entertainers. High school students are strongly encouraged to register as volunteers in an effort to earn hours toward their 40-hour community service diploma requirement.

Volunteers aged 15 and up can apply, says the DWBIA. To do so, click here, download the volunteer application form, fill it out, then e-mail or fax to the information provided.

The deadline for volunteer applications is November 3.
