Fundraising Game For Riverside Miracle Field

Fundraising for the Riverside Baseball Miracle Field kicks off Saturday.

Members of the Windsor Fire Service and the Windsor Police Service will be competing in the Battle For Bragging Rights. It's a nod to Riverside Minor Baseball Association history.

"It was started by the Riverside firefighters and police association," says Bill Kell, chairperson for the RMBA. "This is sort of a historical event and an event that will help create this dream park."

The first pitch will be thrown by Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens at 12:30pm at the Riverside Baseball Park Diamond 1 on Ontario St.

The group is looking to raise $2.1-million to build a fully accessible baseball diamond in Riverside. So far they have raised $750,000 mostly through a major donation from Rick Farrow who committed $500,000 over three years.

The goal on Saturday is to encourage 1000 people to donate $20 to the cause to raise a total of $20,000 for the project.
