Car Cruise to Remember Couple

The families of a Leamington-area couple killed last week will be supported by a fundraiser.

A classic car cruise will be held Sunday afternoon in Leamington for Brandon Froese, 26 and Miranda Brown, 21, who were killed September 17 when their vehicle collided with a concrete barrier and ruptured a carbon dioxide tank.

Jeff Reneau is a mutual friend of the couple who will be a DJ at the Sunday fundraiser. He describes Brandon as someone who loved anything on wheels.

"Brandon was a car guy," says Reneau. "He was a cruiser. He liked his cruises. He was very friendly, very well-known in the area. He spent a lot of time at the St. Thomas Raceway just dragging his car."

He remembers Miranda fondly as well and that the fundraiser will help the daughter she left behind.

"Miranda, she was a happy, go-getter girl. She was very, very happy," says Reneau. "We are very sad that we've lost these two from a tragic accident. Pretty much this whole fundraiser is for funeral costs and most of the money will be going to Miranda's daughter, Aubrey."

Reneau says anywhere from 300 to 500 vehicles will be displayed at the Great Canadian Oil Change on Seacliff Dr in Leamington and items will be sold to help raise money.

"It's going to be a big event. There's lots of stickers, there's going to be a lot of stuff to sell," says Renaud.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the couple. As of Saturday afternoon, it has raised over $16,000.

The car cruise will take place from 2pm to 5pm Sunday. For more information, visit the event's Facebook page.

Services for Miranda were held in Wheatley Saturday. Visitation for Brandon will be held on Monday from 2pm to 5pm, then 7pm to 9pm at Reid Funeral Home in Leamington. Services are at 2pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
