Lieutenant Governor's Visionaries Prize Presents In Windsor

Six finalists for the Lieutenant Governor's Visionaries Prize will present their thoughts on improving Ontario at Windsor's Capitol Theatre Thursday.

"We said there are lots of bright and creative people around in this province so let's ask them to make a submission as to how we might deal with these six areas," says Ontario's Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell.

The finalists will focus on "inclusive prosperity", one of six topics in the series. The other areas are reconciliation, governance, environmental stewardship, social cohesion and scientific and technological innovation.

Dowdeswell says inclusive prosperity has to do with economic development and making sure everyone has a place to be productive in the province.

"This challenge arises because people are concerned with the fast paced technological change, the fact that we're so interdependent as a global society and they're not sure what the consequences are going to be of urbanization and changing demographics. Where are the jobs going to come from? How are we going to make sure that people in this province, in this country aren't going to be left behind," says Dowdeswell.

One of the six finalists presenting is Windsor resident Cierra Bray who will be discussing making entrepreneurship a mandatory class in Ontario. Bray is the founder of CGal Media, an event-planning and digital-marketing agency, and the director of a community-driven monthly event series called YQG Talks.

The event is on Thursday, September 21, at the Capitol Theatre from 7pm-9:30pm. It is free and open to the public.
