Welcome To Robert Carrick Way
Lasalle has renamed Normandy St. Robert Carrick Way in honour of a fallen officer.
A tunnel is also being dedicated to Constable Robert Carrick, who was fatally shot in 1969 while responding to a domestic assault at a home on Sprucewood Ave.
Constable Carrick was able to save the suspect’s wife, child and their baby sitter by getting them to safety behind his police cruiser before he was killed.
Constables Robert Ross and Alfred Oakley were also shot in the gun battle but survived.
The dedication ceremony will be held on Sunday at 11am at Lasalle Town Hall.
